The eLENA computer application enables the management of translation memories, offering the possibility of storing a multilingual aligned parallel translation corpus. It enables segmentation at various levels and there are no initial limits as to the number of languages, which can be adapted to customer need in each case.

Translation units may be searched for by word or words contained in a sentence of the translation unit for any selected language. Logical and proximity operators and wildcards are used in the search. Using the search engine enables the paragraph that contains the sentence or translation unit to be retrieved for each language.

Based on the translation corpus, translation memories can be generated for CAT tools (Workbench, Wordfast).

The eLENA application was acquired by the Basque government's official translation service in 2004 and currently more than 400 users are working with it.
